Take a Dip in the Devil’s Pool
Located at the edge of the Victoria Falls lies one of the most unique swimming experiences there exists on earth.
Call it Nature’s wild infinity pool or a nightmare come true. The Devil’s Pool in Zambia’s border with Zimbabwe is situated 103 meters above sea level and hosts a surreal experience for the adventurous swimmer.
Five hundred million liters of water per minute surge over the mile-wide waterfall, creating a deep deafening sound which gave rise to this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s local name Mosi-Oa-Tunya or the Smoke That Thunders. The never-ending explosions of falling water creates an amazing rainbow-colored spray that could be seen from 30 miles away.
The Devil’s Pool is only safe on seasons when the water levels are low (from September to December). For the rest of the year jumping into the pool only means one thing: instant (but awesome) death.
