Have you ever watched a caged lion at a zoo and asked what if your roles were reversed–you’re in the cage while the lion roams free?
That’s exactly what you’ll experience when you visit the Orana Wildlife Park in Christchurch, New Zealand. Orana Wildlife Park is the only open-range zoo in the country, spanning across 80 hectares of land and housing over 400 animals. In their attraction called “The Lion Encounter”, humans are caged and driven out into an open-range zoo populated with a pride of African lions. While the lions clamber all over the cage, hand-fed by an accompanying zookeeper, tourists can gaze eye-to-eye with the bloodthirsty felines, roaring just inches away from their faces.
