Sixteen feet below sea surface, surrounded by a rich garden of corals is a one-of-a-kind dining experience you don’t want to miss. Ithaa is the first undersea restaurant on Earth that gives you the feeling of being at one with the underwater world while snacking on delicious Maldivian cuisine.
Ithaa is an exclusive restaurant built in 2005 under Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa in Rangali Island, Rangalifinolhu, Maldives. Designed by Kiwi firm MJ Murphy LTd, the undersea restaurant is built using curved transparent polymer-bonded acrylic enclosure, like those in aquarium theme parks.
The five-meter by nine-meter room can accommodate 14 diners, who would be in awe by the regular appearance of many colorful fish, stingrays, and even sharks that live in the neighboring reef not far from the restaurant.
While the scenery is too good to be true, the food will not fail to be just as amazing. Ithaa’s unique cuisine is has a contemporary Maldivian theme, which is a fusion of local spices and traditional flavors with a western twist. This is five-star cuisine at its best in both atmosphere and flavor.
The undersea venue can also be converted into a hotel room or a wedding chapel exclusive for Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa guests.
